friendship & Shared Dreams

the foundation of m.w. dirtworks

Meet Jon and Ryan - childhood friends with a shared love for construction. They took different paths after high school, Jon started Miller Bros Dirtwork (MB) and quickly built a strong reputation. Meanwhile, Ryan built a career where he honed his skills in project management and business development.

Even though they went their separate ways, they never gave up on their shared dream of starting a company together. Years later, the time was right. Ryan joined Jon at MB, bringing with him valuable experience and a shared vision for the future. Their combined skills and determination soon took the company to new heights.

Seeing the power of their partnership, they rebranded as Miller Waugh Dirtworks (MW) to reflect their united expertise and commitment to excellence. MW is more than just a construction company; it’s the embodiment of a lifelong friendship and the shared dreams of two people who always believed in each other.

Today, Miller Waugh Dirtworks is a symbol of quality, innovation, and reliability in the construction industry. Ryan and Jon’s story is one of perseverance, trust, and the realization of a dream they’ve had since they were kids.  Their journey is far from over, fueled by the same passion that brought them together all those years ago.

Jon Miller

co-owner, mw dirtworks

Hi, my name Jonathan Miller. I have been with my wife Sara for 17 years and we have 2 amazing little men. My passion for dirt work started over a decade ago when my wife and I purchased 2.5 acres of land. It was an overgrown mess that I could not wait to start working on. Just shortly after we closed, I bought a Cat D tractor and I went to work. I loved every bit of it. What we envisioned came to life. I completely transformed our property into exactly what we wanted, but after almost 3 years there wasn’t much more I could do.  So, I decided to call up Ryan who I’ve been friends with for over 30 years and discuss a business plan. Which is where we are at today. Working for ourselves doing what we love.

Ryan Waugh

co-owner, mw dirtworks

Hello, my name is Ryan Waugh. I started my construction career in 2004 working as a labor in a gravel pit. As I worked from a labor to an operator, I found how much I enjoyed dirt work. I started a second gravel pit for the company as a foreman working and running the entire yard. In 2006 I joined local 612 operating and engineer union as a journeyman operator. I worked for a larger earth moving company as an operator and moved my way up to a main line excavator operator for 4 years. I moved up to a foreman for them and have run multiple crews and multimillion dollar jobs. Jon and I decided we could create something great together so we made the decision to start our own business. It was a huge leap but I can’t wait to see where the dirt work road leads us.
